Senior Financial Analyst (contract)

Reporting to the Head of Finance, Post-Trade, with a dotted line to the Post-Trade Modernization program manager, this role is at the centre of financial management for TMX’s Post-Trade Modernization program which aims to modernize key systems for both the Canadian Depository for Securities Inc (CDS) and the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC). Leveraging excellent communication skills, strong financial acumen, and key relationships across the program team, the candidate will provide key transparency into both historical and forward looking program spend across multiple dimensions while at the same time playing a key role in ensuring financial results are reflected accurately. Your Responsibilities Will Include • Preparing insightful reporting and analysis comparing budgeted costs to actual costs across multiple dimensions • Reconciliation of financial information to general ledger • Prepare budgets and forecasts for projects and track financial metrics • Perform and manage project management office (PMO) functional tasks and perform day-to-day contract payment activities • Coordinating key inputs from and communicating key process guidance to the program team members (e.g. Project Managers) • Contribute to the growth and development of the overall financial practice interfacing between Finance and project team members • Preparing monthly cash flows, reflecting analyzed trends, costs, financial commitments, and obligations • Implementation of and adherence to a rigorous expense spending control • Development and follow-up of a management dashboard including key performance indicators Your Qualifications And Skills Include • University degree with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Management • 5+ years experience working in a financial analysis role • Understand key accounting concepts such as capitalization • Understand and utilize standard processes for project management, quality management, and risk management • Experience working with a variety of contracting types (e.g., time and materials, fixed price) and billing scenarios • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment • Strong and proactive oral and written communication skills • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team • Highly analytical with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy • Understand the complexities and nuances with reporting on multiple dimensions • Ability to consult with stakeholders and identify metrics and interpretation needed in deliverables • Technology savvy a plus; advanced proficiency with Google Suite, MS Excel, Power Query, SQL, BI tools & MS PowerPoint (creating graphics, charts) • Self-motivated with a focus on driving results and strong sense of accountability • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving and recommending solutions or alternate approaches • Strong relationship building skills to acquire trust of business partners • Experience in a client service environment; consulting experience is a plus TMX is committed to creating and sustaining a collegial work environment in which all individuals are treated with dignity and respect and one which reflects the diversity of the community in which we operate.
